About
The Charmandean on the Upper Brighton Road is part of Worthing’s heritage. The site was developed on former parks of Offington and Charmandean houses. The south part of Charmandean Park, north of Broadwater, was built on in 1926 and the north part after 1955. The building later became used as a drill hall for the Territorial Army until purchased in the early 1970s on behalf of the Masons of Worthing by two local businessmen – including a member of the Spofforth family.

The Charmandean has been used since then as an HQ for the various area lodges - but had got to a point last year where urgent renovation work was necessary and with it a radical re-examination of the venue’s business plan. The board proposed a radical strategy which involved spending close on £¾ million on a complete refurbishment of the interior of the building and upgrading the entrance and reception areas.

The beauty of The Charmandean is its flexibility, its three main room spaces can individually accommodate guest lists of between 40 and 175 – or they can be connected together to hold 400 guests in one impressive area. Another important feature is its generously sized FREE onsite car park.

The team at The Charmandean is keen to attract back old customers and make friends with new ones – and they are offering the warmest of welcomes with a show-around for anyone interested in exploring the new look Charmandean.
